2011-2012 Board Elections Process


PASC has contracted with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina (PCSASC) to handle the board election process. This ensures integrity and confidentiality in the process.   The governing board consists of 5 members who are elected on an annual basis serving a term of one year, October 1st to September 30th. 

Eligible voters will receive passcodes in a secure email from BoardElections@SCCharterSchools.org.

The deadline for board applications was September 10th at 12 noon.

Election Timeline:  


September 1, 2011 Call for Board Applications will be distributed to the public. Each prospective board member must complete an application online.  PCSASC will have these available online for submission/distribution.   Links will be created from PASC’s site.  

September 10, 2011 Close of nominations. Acceptance of nominations will be closed at 12pm EST.

September 13, 2011 Candidate Information and Application Answers posted online.

September 20-22, 2011 Voting open with e-ballot links emailed to each parent/guardian and employee of PASC.  There is one vote per child enrolled in the school and one vote per employee.  Voting will be available via e-ballot allowing parents and employees to vote via the internet.   Each ballot will have a unique pin number to ensure confidentiality and integrity of the process.
 
September 24, 2011 School board members will be announced publicly. New board members will be sworn in at the October board meeting.  

September 30, 2011  Board Election Process Complete.

Meeting and Training Requirements:
  • PASC Board Members are required to attend board meetings, phone conference meetings, and board retreats.
  • Mandated Board Training – All board members are requested to attend their required board training within 3 months of being elected.  A board training is being held Saturday, November 5th from 9 to 4 pm in Columbia, SC and we hope all elected board members will be in attendance.  This training will include the state required orientation along with risk management, evaluation, and advance board training topics.
