SCVCS Board Elections 

SCVCS has contracted with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina (PCSASC) to manage the board election process. This ensures integrity and confidentiality in the process.   The governing board consists of 7 members who are elected on an annual basis serving a term of one year, October 1st to September 30th. 

 

The deadline for board applications was September 16th at 12 noon.

The ballots and election will take place September 27-29th. Each eligible voter will receive an email from BoardElection@SCCharterSchools.org on September 27th with their secure link and passcode for the ballot.  7 board members will be elected and write in candidates allowed.

2011-2012 Board Elections Process


SCVCS Board has contracted with the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina (PCSASC) to handle the election process. This ensures integrity and confidentiality in the process.   

The governing board consists of 7 members who are elected on an annual basis serving a term of one year, October 1st to September 30th.

Election Timeline:  


September 1, 2011 Call for Board Applications will be distributed to the public. Each prospective board member must complete an application online.  PCSASC will have these available online for submission/distribution.   Links will be created from SCVCS’s site.  

September 16, 2011 Close of nominations. Acceptance of nominations will be closed at 12pm EST.

September 19, 2011 Candidate Information and Application Answers posted online.

September 27-29, 2011 Voting open with e-ballot links emailed to each parent/guardian and employee of SCVCS.  There is one vote per child enrolled in the school and one vote per employee.  Voting will be available via e-ballot allowing parents and employees to vote via the internet.   Each ballot will have a unique pin number to ensure confidentiality and integrity of the process.
 
September 30, 2011 School board members will be announced publicly. New board members will be sworn in at the October board meeting.

Meeting and Training Requirements:

SCVCS Board Members are required to attend 4 annual face to face meetings, monthly phone conference meetings, and board retreats.

Mandated Board Training – All board members are required to attend board training within 3 months of being elected.  SCVCS is hosting a board training for charter schools across the state on Saturday, November 5th from 9 to 4 pm and we hope all elected board members will be in attendance.
