New Schools for South Carolina’s Future

The Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina is hosting a series of free new school development events across the state during Global Entrepreneurship Week starting November 14, 2011.

The Alliance’s executive director states “We need community leaders, educators, and organizations with entrepreneurial spirit to come together to help create the next generation of highly effective public charter schools.  We are excited to bring together the right people and resources to allow new public charter school to flourish and improve educational opportunities in South Carolina.”  Public charter school growth in South Carolina is outpacing the national average and the Alliance is working on bringing resources to the table for South Carolina to become one of the best places in the country for high quality public charter school growth.

Educational entrepreneurs are invited to discuss the educational needs of students in South Carolina and how to turn their ideas solutions into innovative public charter schools. We will focus on the framework needed to have a highly effective public charter school with high academic achievement and outstanding operating practices.  The Alliance’s New School Development Incubator is built from experience across the state with start ups and with national start up best practices.  It is clear that successful public charter schools need to have a strong team from the initial stages of inception with the structured support system like that of the Alliance which includes technical assistance and mentoring relationships throughout the planning and implementation stages.  The strategic planning process of starting a new public charter school is an ongoing, fluid experience which demands an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit.
