Bullying Webinar

Alliance business partner, SchoolReach, presents a Professional Development Series webinar featuring anti-bullying author and speaker, Stan Davis. Stan will discuss strategies for reducing bullying in schools AND for reducing the harm that bullying can cause, based on a recent national research project.

  • Ways to talk about bullying with youth that make it both less frequent and less damaging
  • Ways to broaden our focus beyond just stopping mean behavior to also building community, inner strength, and helping behaviors
  • Strategies for empowering peers to give effective, safe support to bullied youth
  • How adults can best support bullied youth to reduce emotional harm

Stan Davis has been working with young people as a therapist and school counselor since 1969. His work in bullying prevention and building inclusive, supportive school communities has taken him around the world. He is the author or coauthor of three well-respected books on the topic: Schools Where Everyone Belongs, Empowering Bystanders in Bullying Prevention, and Youth Voice Project: Student Insights Into Bullying and Peer Mistreatment. Stan is co-researcher, with Dr. Charisse Nixon, in the Youth Voice Project, which has learned what works from more than 13,000 young people in the United States.

FOIA for Public Charter Schools features elements of the Freedom of Information Act which are essential to public charter school administrators and board members. The presentation focuses on best practices regarding public records, meetings, and FOIA requests. 

Howell Linkous & Nettles member Sam Howell has practiced law for over 30 years.  He concentrates his practice in Public Finance, State and Local Government Law, and Economic Development Incentives.

Sam is experienced with all types of financing for charter schools in South Carolina including: tax-exempt bonds, federal governmental programs, lease purchase, and conventional bank loans.  In addition to charter school finance, Mr. Howell has handled the public finance of state and private universities and colleges, private elementary and secondary schools, and public schools.
